"MINIMUM WAGE UNDER ATTACK - TIPPED EMPLOYEES FACE DRASTIC WAGE CUTS" (UPDATED)

UPDATE: The Seattle P-I has put a good AP story up online this morning (Wednesday).

Northwest Progressive Institute:

Congressman Jay Inslee and local labor leaders have called an emergency rally for tomorrow to demand a fair minimum wage bill. HR 5970, which has passed the House and is now heading to the U.S. Senate, contains two cynical provisions inserted by Republicans serving their corporate masters:

*Permanent cuts to the estate tax for very wealthy estates - exempting up to $5 million per person or $10 million per couple
*Invalidation of state laws providing a minimum wage for restaurant and other tipped employees, a provision that will affect thousands of workers here in Washington.

Horsesass.org:
The rally will be held at the Seattle Center tomorrow at 2:15 PM at the base of the Space Needle. Speakers will include Jay Inslee (the organizer) and Darcy Burner.
This is a good time for the netroots to support the work of progressive Democrats and labor unions to fight back against the Current Regime. Here's a flyer from Local 8.

I've waited tables in NY, Penn and Oregon. It was a helluva lot easier doing it in Oregon when I made $5.25 an hour (plus tips) than when I made $2.01 an hour (plus tips) in Penn and NY.
